PHOTOS: Five feared dead in Atwedie road crash

A devastating road accident at Atwedie near Konongo on the Kumasi-Accra Highway has left five people feared dead and eleven others injured in the early hours of Saturday, October 25, 2025.
The incident involved a Sprinter bus with registration number GR 6626-22, which crashed into a stationary tipper truck parked along the roadside.
Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was negotiating a curve when the driver suddenly spotted the parked truck. Despite attempts to swerve, the vehicle collided violently with the rear of the truck, causing extensive damage and multiple casualties.
One witness described the aftermath as “heartbreaking,” recounting that two passengers seated in the front were trapped in the wreckage for nearly two hours before being rescued by personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Emergency responders, including the GNFS and Police, arrived promptly to rescue survivors and manage traffic flow along the highway.
The injured have been transported to a nearby hospital for emergency care.
Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash to prevent future occurrences on the busy highway.
