The Ghana Physicians Assistants Association is threatening to declare a nationwide strike by close of today, April, 16, 2018, should the Ghana Health Service refuse to heed to their demands.

The Association are demanding for the release of one of their colleagues from police custody.

The Eastern Regional branch of the Association on Friday begun a sit-down strike to solidarize with their colleague, Simon Takramah languishing in prison cells for two weeks following the death of four persons at the New Senchi Health Centre.

The association has maintained that Mr. Takramah is innocent of all allegations leveled against him.

Takramah was among two officers stationed at the health centre where an  injection of contaminated penicillin powder caused the death of the four persons.

The Acting General Secretary of the Association,Peter Eyram Kwenyefu, early on threatened that the mass action will be extended nationwide if a 48hr ultimatum given the Ghana Health Service is not met.

“The GHS and authorities should tell us and we know the way forward. We’ll scale it up from the Eastern region to cover the national places. We’re waiting for the 48hrs that has been given them.”
