The President-elect might have failed to recognise A Plus during his acknowledgement of the pillars of his campaign last Sunday at the party’s thanksgiving service, but Nana Akufo-Addo took to his Facebook page to show appreciation to the A Letter To Parliament singer last Tuesday, saying, “He’s been a brick. I thank him and I’m really grateful,”.
In an interview with Showbiz, A-Plus said his activism was for the good of Ghanaians and he was not expecting anything back by way of financial reward.
“Everything I did was for the good of Ghanaians to get rid of the government that was stealing from all of us. I am not expecting to be rewarded financially or with a position in the incoming government,” A-Plus said.
“We should not wait for an incident like the Brazil or guinea fowl scandals to happen before we demand accountability from our leaders. Our leaders are not there to enrich themselves and they have to be accountable to the people,” he pointed out.
Speaking about other celebrities who might want to receive incentives for publicly declaring support for the NPP prior to the elections, he said although he might disagree with such a position, everyone was free to pursue their personal interests.
“I cannot speak for others or tell them what to do. Everyone has their reasons for supporting the NPP. The only person I can talk for is myself,” he said.
