Dutch-Ghanaian forward Emanuel Poku delivered a standout performance to inspire Almere City to a thrilling 3-2 victory over TOP Oss in the Eerste Divisie.
Poku set the tone early at the Yanmar Stadion, opening the scoring after just 10 minutes with a well-timed run and composed finish from a pass by Hamza el Dahri.
The visitors responded through Tijmen Wildeboer midway through the first half, but Almere regained control shortly after the restart, with Poku again at the heart of the action.
The 22-year-old turned provider in the 47th minute, threading a precise pass to Julian Rijkhoff, who restored the hosts’ lead. Olivier de Nijs then extended the advantage seven minutes later, giving Almere breathing space.
TOP Oss mounted late pressure, with Mauresmo Hinoke pulling a goal back to set up a tense finale, but Almere held on to claim all three points.
Poku’s goal and assist continue an impressive campaign, taking his tally to nine goals and six assists in 33 league appearances this season.
Almere City will look to build on the result when they host FC Den Bosch in their next Eerste Divisie fixture on Monday, 6 April.
