Police have arrested a 45-year-old man suspected of terrorising residents in Abokobi and allegedly supplying weapons to criminals operating in the area.

The suspect, Saviour Kojo Ekpe, was apprehended by officers following an intelligence-led operation that led to the discovery of several weapons in his possession.

According to a police brief, a search conducted in his room uncovered four pump-action guns, 101 rounds of AA/BB live ammunition, a jackknife, a Glock Austria pistol and 17.9mm live ammunition.

Investigators say Ekpe admitted during interrogation that the weapons belonged to him but failed to provide a convincing explanation for possessing the large arsenal.

He reportedly claimed that the weapons were for hunting, protecting his home, and personal safety. However, police believe the explanation does not match the quantity and type of weapons recovered.

Authorities suspect the weapons were rented out to criminals for various illegal activities, reinforcing concerns that the suspect may have been supplying arms for violent operations in the area.

Police also arrested an alleged accomplice, Emmanuel Abbey, who is accused of threatening the life of a complainant connected to the case.

Both suspects are currently in police custody, while the recovered weapons have been retained as evidence.

The arrests followed intelligence gathered on March 5, 2026, which identified Ekpe as a notorious land guard operating within Abokobi and nearby communities, allegedly intimidating residents and facilitating criminal activity.

A police team was subsequently deployed to track and arrest the suspects as part of efforts to clamp down on land guard activities and improve security in the area.
