The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested four individuals and impounded drugs and gaming equipment following a special security operation in Paga aimed at flushing out criminal enclaves and suppressing suspected drug-related activities.

The intelligence-driven exercise was conducted on Thursday, December 18, 2025, and resulted in the arrest of Kofi Boateng, Eric Owusu, and Godwin Agosa—identified as porters—as well as Abdul Aziz Bukari, a driver’s mate.

According to police sources, the suspects were apprehended at separate locations near the Paga border during coordinated patrols and search operations.

Items recovered during the swoop include eight jackpot slot machines, 13 wraps of dried plant material believed to be Indian hemp, three mobile phones, three scissors, three cigarette lighters, a power bank, an empty phone casing, and cash amounting to GH¢25.

The Police Command explained that the action forms part of sustained efforts to rid border communities in the Upper East Region of illegal activities, with particular focus on drug peddling and unauthorized gaming operations.

All four suspects remain in police custody and are cooperating with ongoing investigations. Authorities say they will be put before court once investigations are completed and sufficient evidence is established.

The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its resolve to uphold public safety and security, calling on residents to support law enforcement by providing timely and credible information.
