A  Kotoko fan was shot by a sporadic bullet from the Police at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium after Kotoko's league encounter with Berekum Chelsea.

The porcupine warriors lost by a lone goal after a 7th minute strike by Chelsea's Kofi Owusu.

Irate fans of Kotoko attacked personnel of the Ghana Police Service with stones, sachet water and other missiles as they wanted to get their pound of flesh with the referee who they accused of cheating them.

In the ensuing melee a Policeman shot through the crowd with a gun loaded with rubber bullet and accidentally hit a Kotoko fan in the face.

Lying in a pool of blood and writhing in pain, some members of the ambulance service present at the Stadium swiftly came to his rescue and rushed him to the accident and emergency centre at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Ashanti Regional Police Service has issued a two page statement stating that they have commenced investigations into the matter while the said officer who opened fire into the crowd has been interdicted pending investigations.

The Police Service also wished the victim of the shooting incident who is in a stable condition at the Baba Yara Stadium  a speedy recovery.
