A Deputy Communication Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kamal Deen Abdul, has expressed grave concern over the continues use of youth from the Northern Region and Zongos, who are often used to foment political violence in the name of party vigilante.

The former National Nazzara Coordinator for the NPP, said victims of such political violence, are usually people who bear northern, Muslim or Zongo names, clearly indicating that people from these areas, are used mainly to cause trouble.

Alhaji Kamal Deen Abdul’s comments come on the heels of the recent by-election held at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency of the Greater Region, after the Member of Parliament (MP) Emmanuel Kyeremanten Agyarko, died while serving his second term as a lawmaker.

The by-election, which was won by the baby mama of the late MP, Lydia Sayram Alhassan, recorded very serious injuries after hooded National Security operatives and NPP thugs, raided the home of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate, Delali Kwesi Brempong over their claim of ‘machomen’ and weapon being kept there.

The masked men, who wore National Security apparel and drove in Ghana Police Service SWAT vehicles, were caught in live videos beating and shooting indiscriminately at members of the NDC, who helplessly had no weapon to defend themselves from the brutalities unleashed on them that Thursday.

Though the actions of the masked operatives have been described as a “botched” exercise, they ended up injuring over 18 civilians who were rushed to both Legon and 37 Military Hospitals. The incident has roundly been condemned by very well meaning Ghanaians, groups and international bodies.

In what appears to be a reaction to the incident, Kamal, who prides himself as a son of Dagbon of the Northern Region, said the time has come for these youth from the aforementioned areas, to change the status quo by adding value to their lives.

He said, many a times, when violence is perpetuated, it is names such as Mohammed, Habeeb, Yakubu, Sumiala and so on that are mentioned as victims.

According to him, often, these poor youth, are not recognized neither are there considered when it is time to reward good works.

Kamal, a failed National Youth Organizer aspirant of the NPP, who posted this on his facebook timeline, urged his fellow northerners, Muslims and Zongos, to desist from being used for cheap political agenda.

Below is what he posted:

Political Violence: the victims of injuries and deaths have mostly been those with names like Mohammed, Habeeb, Yakubu Sumaila etc. this clearly shows that we the people of Northern, Muslim and Zongo extraction, are largely used for such operations …hmmm but hey, have we stopped to ask ourselves about who takes the glory and benefits in the end, and have we also asked ourselves whether we are adequately considered when the sharing of rewards arrives?

Pls my brothers, let us all say no to whoever comes our way to use us for such operations.

We should begin to think smart and start adding value to ourselves as a people while we pray fervently for more developmental projects for our territories and communities.
