Vice Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has said the self acclaimed financier of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ken Agyapong has become so powerful that he’s able to ‘control’ President Akufo Addo.

According to him, once the maverick and loudmouth politician speaks, every member of the NPP including the President is compelled to tow his line.

Hon. Ken Agyapong who’s the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, recently flared up on radio following the implication of the Managing Director of Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company (BOST), Alfred Obeng in the controversial sale of five million litres of off-spec fuel.

The Minority in Parliament and some civil society organizations were calling on the President to dismiss the BOST MD after selling million litres of contaminated fuel to Movenpiina, a company reportedly to have been incorporated barely a month after it negotiated the deal with BOST and without NPA license.

Hon. Ken Agyapong who was livid at what he said was undermining of Alfred Obeng whom he describes as a silent financier of the NPP was being treated by some NPP members who wanted the BOST job threatened tell the whole world how the party won the 2016 elections.

Speaking on Peace FM Wednesday, Hon. Ofosu Ampofo citing Ken Agyapong’s threat to the National Security Minister, Kan Dapaah on the Delta Force issue to buttress his point, said it has become increasingly clear that the NPP lacks what it takes to call the eccentric politician order who remains untouchable to order.

I’ve said that once Hon. Ken Agyapong has spoken everyone will tow the line including the President. I’m making this statement with no apologies. That is my conviction and position. I repeat it Ken Agyapong has spoken and everybody will tow the line. When the Delta Force issue came up he dared and eventually all the sequences of issues shows that his threat worked. When this BOST matter also came up, he sat on national TV and dared he’ll spill the beans on how the NPP won the elections if the MD is sacked, then suddenly the BNI report surfaced clearing the MD of any wrongdoing in the controversial sale of the contaminated oil. I ask myself what are we doing to ourselves as a country.
