Progressive People's Party parliamentary aspirant for Klottey Korle constituency Mrs Eva Lokko has died, an official report from the party indicates

The former PPP running mate in the 2012 election  died in the United States, where she had been receiving medical treatment.

Mrs Lokko was named the Parliamentary aspirant of the PPP in the Klottey Korle constituency for the 2016 elections and was expected  to give the New Patriotic Party's Philip Addison and National Democratic Congress' Zanetor Rawlings a run for their money.

She was popular for her role at the State Boradcaster, where she became the first woman engineer to be employed.

She rose from the ranks and became the Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation in 2002, a tenure which was blighted by chaos and some misunderstanding with the union. She resigned but not without legal tussel.

Madan Lokko was the  first Satellite Communications Engineer and the first woman engineer to be employed at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) in 1972.

She was part of the engineering team that installed and maintained Ghana's first colour television infrastructure in 1985.

Having worked in over forty countries across the world in various capacities, she became  a regional programme coordinator of the United Nations Development Programme initiative for Internet development in Africa.

She had also  worked with theUnited Nations for thirteen years and also served as chairperson of the UN Federation of International Civil Servants Association and the United Nations Staff Council and as a member of the UNDP News Advisory Board.
