Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo has maintained that promotion in the civil and public service of Ghana must be of merit rather than favouritism.

Nana Akufo-Addo insisted that promotions in the civil and public service ought to be based on merit of efficiency, of ability and not of political allegiance or patronage.

In a meeting with some members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) in Accra, he advised both public and civil servants to avail themselves to whoever wins power through the ballot box in order to enable the government to put it programmes into action.

“We believe strongly that the Ghanaian civil and public service that is operating in a multi-party democracy must be neutral, non partisan,” he said.

Nana Akufo-Addo’s meeting with CLOGSAG was to outline plans and visions he has for workers when he comes into power.
