Ghana made light work of Madagascar in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers opener as coach Otto Addo recorded his first win as Ghana coach in three matches with a 3-0 victory.

The Black Stars of Ghana started the game on the front foot as in the 5th minute Kudus Mohammed wasted a free kick as he curled it wide

Andre Ayew was fouled on the edge of the penalty box in the 10th minute but wasted the free kick as he struck the human wall.

Felix Afena-Gyan should have done better in the 15th minute when he was given a through pass by Abdul Fatawu Issahaku but his shot deflected wide for a corner.

Baba Rahman entered the penalty box but could not find a teammate despite Andre Ayew making the move as his shot flashed wide in front of goal.

In the 27th minute Jordan Ayew was bundles to the ground and he effected the free kick which crashed into the wall for a corner which was wasted by Ghana.

Jordan Ayew ghosted past some two player before sending a rasping shot goal wards which was tipped wide by the Madagascar goalie.

Baba Iddrisu headed the resulting corner goal wards in the 32nd minute but was saved by the goalkeeper before Jordan Ayew's goal bound shot was deflected wide for a corner.

The Malagasy goalkeeper pulled off another save as he closed down Afena-Gyan afte a defensive mix up but the away side nearly scored after some neat exchanges but his final strike missed the post by inches.

Ghana finally got the opener in the 54th  minute after some good work from  Dennis Odoi on the right flank with a great run before squaring to Afena-Gyan but Andre Ayew missed the ball as he tried a back flick but Kudus Mohammed was waiting as he struck into the roof of the  net.

Jordan Ayew also worked the left flank an entered the penalty box before  squaring the ball to Baba Rahman but his  shot  was deflected wide.

Ghana made it 2-0 from  the resulting corner kick in the 56th minute as a short corner routine was flicked home by Felix  Afena-Gyan for his first Ghana goal since making his debut in March against Nigeria in the 2022 FIFA World Cup play offs.

In the 67th minute, Kudus Mohammed thought he had scored his  second and Ghana's third goal after poking home a fine cross from Baba Rahman but was flagged offside.

Madagascar sent a fine cross from the left but Dennis Odoi cleared for a corner kick which was also headed away by Andre Ayew.

Antoine Semenyo came on for his long awaited Ghana debut replacing Andre Ayew while Daniel Kofi Kyere also came on.

Osman Bukari latched onto a loose ball went round the goalkeeper before slotting home to make it 3-0.

Antoine Semenyo thought he was through on goal late on but the referee whistled for a foul as the ball brushed his hands.

Ghana will next play Central African Republic on 5th June, 2022  before traveling to Japan for the Kirin Cup.
