Legendary Asante Kotoko former player Sarfo Gyamfi aka Black President has called on referees in the Ghana Premier League to offer protection to Kotoko's Brazilian import Fabio Gama.

Fabio Gama announced his presence to the Ghana Premier League on Monday with a commanding display in Kotoko's 2-0 victory over Liberty Professionals.

The Brazilian was the star of the show despite Kwame Poku scoring both goals for Kotoko.

He provided an assist for one of Kwame Poku's two goals and was always a willing outlet for passes with his unreal vision his biggest asset.

According to Sarfo Gyamfi there was too many dangerous tackles going the way of the  player and officials should do enough to protect him.

“He (Fabio Gama) suffered too many fouls and should have been protected by the referee. Ghanaian referees don’t protect players like the Europeans do,” Sarfo Gyamfi told Silver FM.

Sarfo Gyamfi believes he is the right kind of player Asante Kotoko needs presently and will enormously improve his old side if only he is able to stay fit.

“He will help Asante Kotoko. He is the type of player the club needed. We should just pray he stays fit and plays the games as they come,” Gyamfi noted.
