A bridge on the main Cape Coast-Twifo Praso road in the Central Region has caved in, posing a threat to residents.

The bridge situated at Jukwa washed away as a result of a heavy downpour in the area on Friday.

Residents in the area including the Chief Executive Officer of Exim Bank Ghana have had their houses and other properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis destroyed as a result of the floods.

Ghana Guardian's Central Regional correspondent, Ekow Essel, reported that the incident has rendered the said stretch completely inaccessible.

"The washout has rendered the Cape Coast-Twifo Praso road inaccessible. The road has been cut off by the rains at the Jukwa bridge," he reported.

He advised travellers to use the Cape Coast-Yamoransa stretch as an alternative root.

"Motorists travelling between Cape Coast and Twifo Praso are therefore advised to use the Cape Coast - Yamoransa - Assin Fosu road as authorities mobilize to solve the problem as soon as possible," the report added.
