Ousted Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe will get the hero’s burial he claimed he didn’t want.

The former African strongman, 95, who died Friday in Singapore after a lengthy illness, will be buried at a hilltop shrine reserved for Zimbabwe’s ruling elite, an official said Saturday.

Mugabe’s family told reporters in August that the former leader did not want to be buried at the National Heroes Acre, or have the government that ousted him preside over his funeral.

The shrine was built with help from North Korean architects and set aside for Zimbabweans who have made sacrifices and dedicated themselves to the nation.

The funeral date and other arrangements haven’t been set.

Mugabe’s remains were expected to be flown to South Africa Saturday before being brought to Zimbabwe, but it was unclear whether his body had left Asia.
