The Southern African Development Community (SADC) citizens in Ghana have held a get-together at the residence of the Namibian Ambassador to Ghana in Accra. The occasion, which is celebrated annually in August, seeks to bring together Southern African countries to reach a common goal.

Namibian High Commissioner to Ghana, Charles Josob, who also doubles as the Chairman of the SADC group of Ambassadors in Ghana, emphasized that the gathering seeks to unite the SADC members in Ghana, by revitalizing their togetherness. “It is on a small scale and it is more of a family gathering and an elaborate celebration.

This gathering we have every year brings us together although we are far from home. This makes us feel at home to meet and socialize with each other’s families and friends,” he said. On her part, the South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Lulu Xingwana, noted that the occasion was mainly to socialize and make merry with family and friends.

“We came together, all SADC ambassadors based in Ghana with our diplomats, staff, family and friends to socialize and celebrate the SADC day proper.” She added that the occasion also paves way for good and healthy trade opportunities between African countries.
