Believe it or not, we live in a scamming generation where scammers will go any length to defraud their victims.

Scammers attack their victims in different schemes; a situation that makes their tracking and arrest very difficult.

Most scammers become charlatans just so they can hit their target so hard. Their job knows no bound. You could be scammed no matter your position as long as you fall for their tactics.

An Iris, Patrick Leo McMahon has not been spared. He has fallen on the list of scammers who have defrauded him to the tune of 100,000 Euros.

How it happened

Ostensibly, a scammer posed himself as the ace investigative reporter, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, claiming to investigate a fraud case of which Leo McMahon had been a victim.

Dr. McMahon had previously fallen a victim to a fraudster (Barrister Bismark Owusu) and in his bid to get the fraudster arrested, got into another group of scammers.

He reportedly filed the case through an electronic email named [email protected] on January 7, 2016. The supposed receiver of the mail, in turn directed him to an imposter, Anas Aremeyaw Anas after convincing McMahon that his case could only be properly handled through that means.

McMahon in turn contacted the said Anas Aremeyaw Anas, through a contact given him. The imposter Anas Aremeyaw then assured him of getting his culprits apprehended but demanded that he made some payments which subsequently totaled, 100,000 Euros.

The scammers indeed played fast on him, going to the extent of sending him a forged letter from the then Attorney General, Marietta Brew-Appiah of compensation deemed him.

It then dawned on him after contacting the attorney for his compensation that he had once again, fallen to the traps of fraudsters.

In a letter addressed to Ghanaguardian.com, Leo McMahon wants the story published to caution others so not to fall prey to these fraudsters.
