The Local Government Service (LGS) is cautioning the public to consider as false, publications about the recruitment of personnel into the service.

According to the Service, it has not embarked on any recruitment exercise and does not embark on recruitment or enlistment exercises through social media platforms, agents or intermediaries.

Speaking to Citi News, Head of the Service, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur stated that the continuous sale of the public service recruitment forms by the Assembly Press, should not be interpreted as an advertisement for recruitment into the Local Government Service.

“Some people have also sought to know why the application forms are still being sold when the Local Government Service is not recruiting. The answer is simple, first, the application forms (PSC Form 2) is meant for entry into all the Public Services in Ghana and not solely for entry into the Local Government Service.”

Again, the forms are not sold by the Local Government Service but rather Ghana Publishing Corporation (Assembly Press) which is the mandated agency to print and sell these forms. What that means is that if you visit Assembly Press to purchase PSC Form 2, it will be sold to you.”

Expressing worry that such recruitment scams are being carried out by job advertising portals, he warned the public to be wary of such notices and assured them that they would be notified once there are any vacant positions.
“The service has just completed the process it began in February 2019 to engage 2,290 additional staff. The core publications were advertised in both the print and electronic media and we want to assure the general public that once such opportunities turn up in future, due process and procedures will be followed. And the general public will be involved accordingly,” he said.

Some corrupt people continue to demand thousands of cedis from victims while guaranteeing them nonexistent jobs in the Service.

The Local Government Service, like other security agencies in the country, constantly have to deal with dishonest persons who seek to exploit persons seeking positions and defraud them by posing as high-level officials of the Service.
