Police have brutally attacked supporters of the National Democratic Congress on protests, leaving scores injured.

The violence occurred overnight as the police tried to clear protesters calling for the release of the party's deputy General Secretary Mr Koku Anyidoho.

Hundreds of supporters  had amassed at the CID headquarters demanding the release of Mr Anyidoho, who is being held for allegedly predicting an overthrow of the Akuffo Addo Government.

Some of the  injured suffered gunshot wounds whiles others were hit with club as the brutal police exhibited no professionalism in their response to the "free Anyidoho" protest.

Police attempted arresting Anyidoho without presenting arrest warrant, an act that sparked protest from the NDC supporters.

He is alleged to have  declared a looming overthrow of the Akufo Addo administration following the ratification of the military agreement between the government of Ghana and that of the United States

Supporters at the Accra Press Centre had alleged most of the men in uniform were members recruited from terror group of the NPP's invincible forces.

Mr Anyidoho has officially being charged with treason and was refused bail.
