The Eastern Regional  election Security taskforce on Thursday simulated election violence at some polling stations in the New Juaben North and South Constituencies to test the magnitude of their readiness in handling election violence during the December polls.

The simulation exercise which lasted for about one hour attracted scores of residents to the scenes to catch a glimpse of the entire exercise.

The polling stations where the simulation exercise took place were Koforidua Technical University, Betom, Chief Butcher, Asokore Methodist primary school, and Adontua.

The exercise witnessed rehearsal of ballot box snatching by motor bike riders, disturbance of queue, and obstruction of Electoral processes as well as mass arrest of trouble makers.

The exercise was held in collaboration with the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

The Eastern regional Police Commander DCOP Peterkin Yentumi, told the media the successful nature of the exercise shows that the Security services are ready for the December polls.

He warned troublemakers to desist from any attempt to obstruct the voting process since the Security personnel deployed to various centers will deal with such groups without political consideration.
