Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame popularly called the ‘Rap Doctor’ has urged Ghanaians to imagine their country as a haven and build it together.

Okyeame Kwame made the comments on ClassFM’s Class Drive (CD) on Thursday 8 November 2018 when he was hosted by Prince Benjamin on the 'Inspire' segment of the show.

He said: “It is not a mistake that you are born as a Ghanaian in Ghana, it is for a divine purpose and it is important for you to find that purpose and understand that in a man’s culture, that is where his wealth is placed by God”.

“I know that our fathers were faced with neocolonialism, our forefathers were faced with slavery; what we are faced with is modern media from the west showing us all sorts of things making us forget who we are, so, I want you today to reconnect with your ancestors through respect for their artefacts and the cultures and the philosophies that are good for you that they’ve left for you.”

He added: “I want you to imagine your Ghana as a haven because when I lived in New York, every day I saw people getting shot; you couldn’t sleep because the sirens are blurring, big rats on the streets and they … use Hollywood and music to let you think that is the place to be. It is not true. So, don’t walk from Ghana to Morocco to catch a boat to Spain. You will die. Let us build Ghana together.

“Ghana is amazing, let us make it better”.

The Rap Doctor also hinted at plans of recording a collaborative album with Sarkodie, so, they can tour together.

“Every time we [Sarkodie and I] sit down, we say that when we do a collaboration, it shouldn’t just be a song, it should be a tour, so, we must work on a project together.”

Okyeame Kwame's new album Made-in-Ghana also features Kwame Eugene in a track called “E no be my matter”.
