Sekhukhune United has announced the departure of Ghanaian forward Michael Sarpong after just one season with the South African club.

Sarpong, who joined on a three-year deal in 2023, is among 13 players, including fellow Ghanaian Edwin Gyimah, who have been released.

Sarpong's tenure at Sekhukhune United was brief following his transfer from Saudi Arabian second-tier side Al Nahda. Despite his short stay, he made an impression but now finds himself seeking new opportunities.

The 28-year-old striker has had an extensive career, playing for multiple clubs across different countries.

His journey includes stints with Ghanaian side Dreams FC, Rwandan team Rayon Sport, and Tanzanian outfit Young Africans.

As Sekhukhune United prepares for the upcoming season, the club is undergoing significant changes, and Sarpong's departure is part of their strategic revamp.
