The next National Sanitation Day (NSD) exercise has been slated for Saturday, August 6, 2016.
The NSD was instituted on November 1, 2014 in response to a cholera outbreak which claimed many lives across the country.
Since then, the first Saturday of every month has been set aside for the monthly clean-up exercise with the aim of encouraging voluntary cleaning of communities by the general public.
The statement said since the inception of the exercise, cholera outbreak had reduced drastically hence the need to sustain the exercise.
It added that as of August this year, the country recorded only one case of cholera signifying that the NSD exercise and attitudinal change was the panacea for the cholera menace and must be sustained and encouraged.
It, therefore, urged the general public to participate fully in the exercise in their respective communities.
