The Ghana Football Association(GFA) have been knocked back by Moldovan side Sherrif Tiraspol in their attempt to call up midfielder Edmund Addo.

Handlers of the Black Stars handed a late invitation to the rising star but his club knocked back the invitation because it arrived too late.

The combative midfielder was contact by the GFA when it became apparent that Fiorentina midfielder Alfred Duncan will no longer travel to for the double headers against Zimbabwe.

Addo was not part of the initial provisional 32 man shortlist for the 2022 World Cup qualifier but his impressive performance in the Champions League tie against Real Madrid and numerous withdrawals forced the hands of the GFA.

The player was intent on honouring the call up but his club prevented him from traveling as the invitation came too late.

Addo has been in good form this season and showed the whole world the stuff he is made of on Tuesday as he starred for his Moldovan side against Real Madrid.

He hasn’t missed a game this season with a total of 12 appearances so far.

The Black Stars will face Zimbabwe on Saturday 9th October,2021 at the Cape Coast Stadium with the return leg set to come off on Tuesday 12th October in Harare.
