SHS visit: Dep. AG must resign, I don’t feel safe – Akamba

Deputy Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Joshua Akamba has called for the immediate resignation of the deputy attorney general, Mr. Joseph Kpemka for allegedly sending police after him.

The police yesterday, invited Mr. Akamba for questioning over a video which has gone viral on various social media platforms, in which he is seen inciting students of the Tempane Senior High School in the Upper East Region against the free SHS policy and the president.

The invitation by the Police he believes is an intimidating tactic, influenced by Mr. Kpemka, who is also the Member of Parliament for the area.

Speaking to sit-in host Akwesi Nsiah, on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa Fm, Mr. Akamba says he feels unsafe and threatened by the involvement of Mr. Kpemka hence his resignation from office.

“I think that, in all fairness to me and the laws of this country, a very interested party in this matter, who is the Deputy Attorney General Mr. Joseph Kpemka must resign so I can feel safe as a citizen and to go through the processes” he said.

Akamba is of the view the process of investigation with the police could be compromised if the latter continues to hold the post.

“Because he influenced the headmaster to report me to the police. So if the police wants to prosecute me, the prosecutors are at the office of the attorney general and even if they should send the matter to the attorney general for advice, that will surely go against me. So for now am going to focus my attention on the MP, the super incompetent MP to resign from office so I can be assured of fair treatment from the police” he said.

He has however called on President Akufo Addo to remove Mr. Kpemka from office considering his interest in the matter.
