Someone Asked ChatGPT How to Live Long — The Epic Answer That Surprised Everyone

A user asked ChatGPT how to live to 140, and the AI’s answer went viral for its life-changing insight. Meanwhile, OpenAI reveals alarming data about user mental health and announces ChatGPT’s upcoming departure from WhatsApp.

The Viral Question: How to Live to 140

When one user asked ChatGPT how to live a long and healthy life — perhaps even to the age of 140 — the AI’s response became an internet sensation. Instead of listing diets or supplements, ChatGPT gave an unexpectedly human answer: longevity, it said, depends on movement, connection, and peace of mind.

“Those who live the longest,” ChatGPT explained, “move often, stay socially connected, and avoid chronic stress. They live in the present, rest when tired, and don’t wait until retirement to start living.”

The reply struck a chord with millions online, shifting focus from rigid health routines to emotional well-being and meaningful relationships. As the AI put it: “It’s less about what you eat and more about how you feel — and who you spend time with.”

Mental Health Conversations on ChatGPT

Beyond viral moments, OpenAI has revealed a sobering statistic about its chatbot’s daily use. According to internal data, around 1.2 million people each week engage in conversations on ChatGPT that show signs of suicidal thoughts or intentions.

The figure, shared by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, highlights the platform’s growing influence — and responsibility — as it now supports over 800 million active users weekly.

OpenAI’s research into more than 1,000 high-risk conversations found that its latest GPT-5 model responded appropriately 91% of the time. While this demonstrates significant progress in AI empathy and safety, the remaining 9% represents tens of thousands of cases where users could still be vulnerable to harm.

The company has acknowledged that its safety systems can weaken during longer chats, and teams are working to enhance consistency and human-like sensitivity in mental health responses.

ChatGPT to Leave WhatsApp in 2026

In a separate announcement, OpenAI confirmed that ChatGPT will no longer function on WhatsApp starting January 15, 2026. The decision, according to the company, follows changes to WhatsApp’s terms and conditions that affect how third-party AI integrations operate.

“While we would much prefer to continue serving you on WhatsApp, we are focused on making the transition as smooth as possible for all of our users,” OpenAI said in a public statement.

The company has not yet confirmed which messaging platforms will replace WhatsApp access, but alternative services are expected to emerge before the cutoff date.

The Human Side of Artificial Intelligence

The now-famous ChatGPT answer on how to live long reflects something deeper — that even in a world driven by algorithms and data, the pursuit of happiness remains timeless.

As AI continues to evolve, its role in both improving mental health and supporting human connection becomes ever more significant. The viral moment reminds us that wisdom doesn’t always come from science or statistics — sometimes, it comes from the simple truths we already know: move, connect, and live fully today.
