A lower tier South African side Matiyasi FC have been handed a life time ban from football after beating their opponents by  59 goals to 1.

The Limpopo based side defeated Nsami Mighty Birds as they chased promotion to the  ABC Motsepe League.

But the South Africa Football Association(SAFA) launched an investigation into the match after the suspicious score line.

Matiyasi FC were banned alongside three Limpopo based sides for their role in match fixing and manipulation.

Out of the 59 goals scored by Matiyasi FC, 41 of them were own goals that were scored by players of Nsami Mighty Birds.

Matiyasi were third in their stream and were three points behind the leaders, but were 18 goals behind on goal difference.

The charade didn’t end there as Matiyasi’s rivals for the promotional spot, Shivulani Dangerous Tigers, won their game with a whooping 32 goals.

Tigers  also defeated Kotoko Happy Boys 33-1, with seven own-goals being recorded during the encounter.
