A teenage girl has lost her life in a harrowing incident at Agona Ahanta-Domeabra in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region, after allegedly being sexually assaulted and fatally attacked by her stepfather in the early hours of Monday.

According to preliminary accounts, two residents discovered the victim in a distressed state along a farm path, where she reportedly told them she had been restrained and repeatedly sexually assaulted by her stepfather.

As the two good samaritans attempted to come to her aid, the suspect is said to have emerged from a hiding spot nearby and turned on them, forcing them to flee into town to seek help.

When they returned with reinforcements, they found the young girl in a critical condition, having been savagely struck with cement blocks.

She was rushed to a health facility in the area but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The suspected perpetrator, identified as Ntow, an ex-convict, has since been arrested and declared wanted in connection with the attack. He is accused of abducting the girl, subjecting her to repeated sexual violence, and then delivering the fatal blows with cement blocks that ultimately claimed her life.

Efforts by authorities to formally charge and prosecute the suspect are underway as the community grapples with the shock and grief of the tragedy.
