Hundreds of followers and sympathisers of the General Overseer of the Glorious Word Power Ministry have gathered at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Accra today (October 26).

This follows an invitation by the police for Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah to clarify some prophecies he made ahead of the December polls.

The founder and leader of Glorious Word Ministry International made allegations that there are politicians plotting to kill the Presidential Candidate of the NPP.

Addressing the media the Director-General of Police Operations, Commissioner of Police (COP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno said those who make comments that will put the security of the country at stake will have to substantiate it.

DCOP Yohuno argued that the reverend minister could have shared his revelation with the police as intelligence instead of going public.

“Just to let him know that Ghana is bigger than any individual. Whether you are a reverend or whatever person you are, behaviours of this type is going to inflame passions. It is going to make people act in a way which is going to be contrary to the peaceful trend that we are all moving towards. If you have any intelligence the best thing is that you give it to the security agencies.”

“He is not the only pebble on the beach and he alone cannot hold the country to ransom.”

Rev. Owusu Bempah is reported to have said that there will be gunshots at strongholds of the opposition party during the December 7 election. He also added that he had a revelation that some politicians are plotting to kill Nana Addo.

But DCOP Yohonu said he could have done better by passing on all these information to the police.

Some of the supporters who besieged the CID premises described the invitation as unimportant. They said they would gather there until Rev Owusu Bempah was released.
