The Master Cleanse diet or the Lemonade diet is a type of juice fast that is effective for quick weight loss. It is basically a detoxification process, which promotes weight loss and removes harmful toxins from the body. Developed by Dr. Stanley Burroughs in 1940s, those following the diet are not supposed to have any solid food for 10 days. The only thing one can have is the Master Cleanse that is prepared using common ingredients present in your household. Here is how you can go on the Master Cleanse diet:

The beginning:Since one has to spend 10 days on a liquid diet, you first need to prepare your body for it. You just cannot quit eating solid food. Here is what you should do: Day 1 and 2: Cut out processed foods, alcohol, caffeine, and dairy products. Consume only green vegetables and fruits. Day 3: Get yourself used to a liquid diet. Go for smoothies, soups, fresh fruit and vegetable juices. Day 4: Drink only water and fresh orange juice. You can have organic tea before going to bed. Day 5: You can start the Master Cleanse. Ingredients needed for the Master Cleanse diet:1 glass water
2 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoon pure maple syrup
1/10 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Organic tea or laxative tea
Sea salt to taste Step 1: Dissolve some salt in a glass of water to make salt water flush. Consume this solution on an empty stomach in the morning. This liquid will remove mucus and waste from your digestive tract. Step 2:Take a glass of water and add lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper in it. Now stir it well.
Lemon juice will help to break down the old waste, while maple syrup will give you the required minerals and sugar, which will keep you fueled. Cayenne pepper mixed in this drink will stimulate detoxification by breaking up mucus and enlarging the blood vessels.
Drink this concoction six to 12 times through the day.

Step 3: Drink a cup of organic tea before going to bed every night.

Bottom line A clear, pink tongue indicates that you have successfully completed the cleansing process.

The side effects of Master Cleanse may be food cravings, irritability, headache, fatigue, and bowel movement. Though the symptoms are temporary and will disappear as you move forward in your diet plan.

After completing the Master Cleanse, do not include food in your diet immediately. Start with orange juice and vegetable soup. You can start eating food from the third or the fourth day.
