The member of Parliament for the Ododiodio Constituency and former minister for youth sports, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has hit out at the sheer number of ministers by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

Speaking in an interview with Accra based government, the legislator claims that the President’s bloating government size is just duplication of roles and giving jobs to party faithfuls.

According to him we now have the sanitation ministry but sanitation in the country is at its lowest ebb in the country.

He also says that there is the ministry of Monitoring and evaluation and the rate of corruption is still high in the country.

“The sheer number of ministers is a waste. Let me tell you this the Ministry of local government was responsible for rural development, access to water, sanitation, education.

“Today you have come to establish ministry of water and sanitation but the environmental sanitation in the country is worse than three years ago so what’s the use”

“You have ministry of monitoring and evaluation and the corruption in the country is worse."

"You have a created minister of special development and he is building a website of GH 800,000."

"He continued by saying that ministers have been misleading the President to sign fraudulent including PDS and the Ameri deal."

“If you have ministers who are paid and things they send to parliament is a mistake. If you have ministers who will not brief the President properly and the President will be misled into signing a fraudulent Ameri renegotiating contract, then what’s the need of all those ministers” he queried.
