Thomas Partey has struggled to settle in at North London side Arsenal and a move back to his old stomping grounds may be on the cards according to reports in Spain.

The Ghanaian midfielder joined the North London club from Spanish side Athletico Madrid for a hefty transfer fee of 50million euros in the summer after Arsenal triggered his release clause.

Since joining the player has had a mixed performance with injuries curtailing his involvement initially but he is now a mainstay in the team.

A report by Spanish publication Todofichajes says Diego Simeone is planning to launch a two-prong attack on Arsenal with Real Madrid loanee, Dani Caballos also on the cards as Madrid deem him surplus to requirement while they also need to raise funds for their transfer business.

During his stay in Spain, Partey was an integral part of the Athletico Madrid set up before he departed the Spanish capital.

He has made 20 appearances for Arsenal in the league with 15 start and is yet to open his Arsenal account and was part of the Arsenal team that was dumped out of the Europa League by Villarreal last Thursday.
