Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has welcomed the arrival of Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco.

The Rojiblancos bolstered their midfield with the signing of the French midfielder for £52.9 million this summer – a move that adds more competition in the team and might affect Partey’s playing time in Diego Simeone's squad.

But the Ghanaian international insists he is happy with the competition Lemar will create in the team.

"Competition within a team is normal, as it always is. What you must do is concentrate and continue playing as a team to fight for titles," he said.

"It is also very important that there are players coming from the youth system, it isn't easy to do that.

"They serve as the perfect example for other young people who want to become like them."
