Thousands of young Ghanaians are reported to have lost millions of cedis after investing in an alleged fraudulent online platform known as CWPC, which promised users substantial returns for completing simple daily tasks.

The platform allegedly attracted a large number of investors by presenting itself as a legitimate investment opportunity, assuring participants of quick and guaranteed profits within weeks of making deposits.

According to affected users, investors were encouraged to deposit varying amounts of money with the promise that they would earn daily rewards by performing routine online activities. Participants were also reportedly incentivised to recruit new members, with promises of additional commissions and bonuses.

However, the scheme is said to have collapsed after many users suddenly lost access to their accounts and were unable to withdraw their funds. Reports indicate that the platform became inaccessible, while administrators allegedly ceased communication with members, leaving thousands of investors stranded.

Several victims have since taken to social media to share their experiences, claiming they invested significant sums of money after being convinced by the platform’s promises of high and consistent returns.

The alleged collapse of CWPC has sparked widespread outrage online, with many calling on law enforcement agencies and financial regulators to investigate the operators behind the scheme and help recover the lost funds.

The incident has also renewed concerns over the growing number of unregulated online investment platforms targeting young people with promises of unrealistic returns.

Financial experts have repeatedly cautioned the public to exercise extreme caution before investing in schemes that guarantee unusually high profits within short periods, warning that such offers are often characteristics of Ponzi or fraudulent investment operations.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the reported collapse of CWPC or confirm the total amount of money believed to have been lost by investors.
