Former Watford and England forward Troy Deeney has praised Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo following his impressive display in Bournemouth's stunning 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the Premier League.
Semenyo, who continues to shine in the league, scored his fourth goal of the season, capping off a brilliant performance that helped the Cherries end City's remarkable 32-game unbeaten streak.
In the match held at Vitality Park, Semenyo showcased his skills by converting a well-placed cross from Milos Kerkez.
Deeney, serving as an expert for the BBC's Team of the Week, quickly named Semenyo the Player of the Week, highlighting his dominance over City defender Kyle Walker.
“The player of the weekend by far. He dominated Kyle Walker. I'll put it down to this - Walker played a 6/10 and Semenyo was 9.5/10,” Deeney stated.
He further emphasized Semenyo’s exceptional performance, noting, “I don't think Semenyo will have a better game - everything he touched landed at his feet. He got himself a goal.
He bodied Walker at one stage, putting him on the ground.”
Reflecting on Semenyo's rise, Deeney admitted he had previously doubted the forward’s ability to transition effectively from Bristol City to the Premier League level.
However, after witnessing his recent form, he believes Semenyo has the potential to thrive in the league for many years to come, adding, “He looks like he could be in the Premier League for a very long time.”
