Two dead, 12 injured in early-morning crash on Cape Coast–Takoradi highway

A dawn collision on the Cape Coast–Takoradi stretch of the N1 highway has claimed two lives and left 12 others nursing injuries after a violent crash at Abakam.
The accident occurred early Tuesday morning and involved a Toyota Corolla with registration number GS 2455-25 and a Sprinter bus bearing registration number WR 316-24.
The impact left both vehicles badly mangled.
In a statement, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said a distress call was received at about 5:11 a.m., prompting the immediate dispatch of personnel from the Elmina Fire Station to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters secured the area, cleared debris from the roadway and assisted with traffic control to prevent secondary accidents.
A total of 14 people were affected in the crash. Four of the injured were rushed to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Hospital, where two later died while receiving treatment.
The remaining ten victims are currently being treated at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
Authorities are yet to release details on the cause of the accident, as investigations continue.
