Two ‘gangsters’ shot dead after robbing women’s group of their money

Two suspected gangsters have been shot dead after they robbed a women's group of their money.
The incident happened Wednesday evening, November 6, 2019.
It is alleged that the duo, who were part of a five-member gang, robbed the women’s group of their Ksh13,000 (GHc700.00) at Kabare Village in Kirinyaga East, Kenya.
The women raised the alarm, resulting in Flying Squad officers tracking the suspects down to Njegas area.
The suspected gangsters were travelling in a white Toyota Caldina, when a shoot-out between them and the anti-crime officers ensued. The two suspected robbers succumbed to gunshot injuries.
Three of their accomplices, however, managed to escape, Kirinyaga Central OCPD, Doreen Oduori, told K24 Digital.
Police recovered an AK-47 rifle with 12 rounds of ammunition from the deceased. Also confiscated, was the white Toyota Caldina, which is believed to be stolen property, vehicle registration plates, ID cards and three teargas canisters.
The bodies of the felled suspected robbers were taken to a Kirinyaga hospital morgue.
