Two police officers among five Killed in fatal bullion van crash at Adanwomaso

Two police officers have been confirmed among five persons who tragically lost their lives in a gruesome head-on collision between a speeding bullion van and a Kia truck at Adanwomaso in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
The officers, identified as Lance Corporal Kojo Kankam (33) and Lance Corporal Asangalisah (26), were part of the police escort team accompanying the bullion van.
According to eyewitnesses and preliminary police reports, the bullion van, which was ascending a hill at high speed, attempted to overtake another vehicle but veered into the opposite lane—resulting in a deadly collision with an oncoming Kia truck carrying bags of cement.

The violent impact left both vehicles completely mangled, claiming five lives on the spot—including the two officers—and leaving others critically injured.
“This is the first time such a terrible accident has occurred on this stretch since the road from Bonwire to Adanwomaso was reconstructed,” a shocked resident said.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly to transport the injured to a nearby health facility, while the deceased were conveyed to the morgue.

Authorities have since launched a full investigation into the crash to determine whether excessive speed, mechanical failure, or driver error played a role.
The Ghana Police Service is yet to issue an official statement regarding funeral arrangements for the fallen officers, as tributes continue to pour in for the young men who died in the line of duty.
