Two NPP Policians have threatened the Ghana Football Association, following rumours that the country's football governing body is going to sack coach CK Akonnor.

Former MP Tema East Titus Glover and failed aspirant Hopeson Adorye, on Thursday, unleashed their characteristics words of threat on radio, daring the GFA to try sacking CK Akonnor and "see what will happen"

Their threats comes amid reports the Executive Council will overwhelmingly vote to sack bungling Black Stars coach today.

The former Member of Parliament for Tema East Glover warned the leadership of the football association against sacking the under-fire coach else risk a showdown with the ruling government.

The leaders of the federation are ready to wield the BIG AXE on Akonnor despite the coach having an existing contract with the federation that expires early next year.

But speaking on Oman FM,  the former legislator warned the top brass of the FA against sacking the former Wolfsburg captain.

"I have heard that the GFA will hold a meeting tomorrow (today) and they want to sack CK Akonnor. We are daring them," he fumed on Oman FM

"Kurt, we are daring you! We are daring him. The future of the Black Stars is linked to the NPP. We want the Black Stars to progress.

"Those of you imposing players on him (CK Akonnor), those who are not allowing time and space to do his work should stop immediately."

Titus Glover is former Afiennya United player is believed to have some understanding of the game.

On his part, Mr Hopeson Adorye, who congested and lost the Kpone Katamamso Parliamentary seat in 2020 election, reminded the GFA that the President is solidly in support of Coach Akonnor.

“CK Akonnor is a Ghanaian coach and the President isn’t interested in any foreigner to head the National Team. President Akufo Addo is solidly behind CK and no one can touch. it

“If Ghana Football Association (GFA) thinks they’re autonomous they should pay the salary arrears owned to CK.
"Why did you (GFA) present the budget to the government for such a huge amount of money for Black Stars 2022 World Cup qualifying games? Where is the official vehicle assigned to the Head coach CK? We know the person using that vehicle and boasting around.

“GFA will not be allowed to sacrifice and bury him after pre negotiating fixed matches and dubious players call ups. You can’t impose yourself on CK because we know your colors within the GFA setup

“If GFA make any decision to sack CK AKONNOR, everybody else will follow because Ghana is bigger than GFA.”
Rumours are strife that the GFA would part ways with CK Akunnor who was appointed late last year.

Insider talk of the imminent sacking of the former Bundesliga player has heightened to the point that some of the best betting sites in Ghana have put odds on Akonnor's future.

Several members of the powerful Executive Council have under the condition of anonymity have hinted that they will table the motion for Akonnor to be sacked.

While the future of Akonnor is not on the agenda for tomorrow's meeting, the discussion on the Black Stars performances in the two matches has been tabled which will give members the chance to deliberate the matter.

The widespread public mood in the country calling for the sacking of the Akonnor will also be a factor to salvage Ghana's qualifying campaign.

The powerful political figures however come in as Akonnores  saviours.

However the root and branch members of the GFA have decided that Akonnor is not the man to lead Ghana to glory.

Ghana will continue their search for a place at the 2022 World Cup by playing home and away matches against Zimbabwe next month.

Only the A-J winners in each group will be able to progress to the final round for Qatar 2022 qualification.

The five remaining African nations will face off in a draw to determine the winners.

The next World Cup, which will be held in the Middle East for the first time, is scheduled to take place between 21 November and 18 December.
