Researchers have launched an Ebola vaccine trial in the western part of the country on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It is hoped the operation will provide key information about the immune response and the safety of the vaccine.

"The trial will take about two years and will target 800 individuals, namely, health workers and front-line workers," Dr Pontiano Kaleebu, a Ugandan researcher who leads the campaign, told the BBC's Newsday programme.
