Black Stars striker, Asamoah Gyan feels he is under appreciated in his own country despite his achievements with the national team.

The Kayserispor forward has been arguably one of Ghana’s most criticised national team captain.

The 32-year-old was recently chastised by sections of the media after earning a recall back into the team for the double header 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone.

Gyan has featured in every AFCON for Ghana since 2008.

"I deserve some respect for what I have done for the national team. Any player outside who has my kind of record will be held shoulder high but I don't get that treatment here in Ghana and it's sad," Gyan told Sintim Koree on Zylofon Sports.

Gyan is Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer with 51 goals from 105 appearances. Outside football, Asamoah Gyan turned his attention towards boxing promotions and is currently the in charge of Baby Jet Promotions.
