In some hours to come, Charterhouse, organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, will announce the nominees for this year’s edition.

Frankly, the board must have made its decision on the final list of nominees and little can be done about the list at this moment.
But if there is any tiny opportunity available, I pray the Board, consider Adina in the list for ‘Artiste of the Year’.

Yes! It will cost nothing and I doubt there will be any agitations should Adina’s name appear alongside possible ‘Artiste of the Year’ nominees such as Stonebwoy, Kuami Eugene and Medikal.

I am making this appeal as a showbiz journalist who believes that award schemes should reward musicians who have upheld quality and refrained from joining the somehow noisy trend.

My plea shouldn’t sound strange if only music enthusiasts will take a moment to look back at her performance during the year under review.

For anyone to get the nod for ‘Artiste of the Year’, organizers say that individual should have the highest audience appeal and popularity as well as release a hit album or single during the year under review.

This is to say, a nominee for this category should have a hit single or album and should have a great level of audience appeal.
Undoubtedly, Adina’s ‘Killing me softly’ tune qualifies as a hit single. ‘On my way’ is another single receiving impressive airplay across the country.

Let me not bore you will the long list of shows the songstress has performed at but permit me to mention a number of top events that made good use of her service.

MTN Music Festival, BF Summa Connect Concert, Miss Universe Ghana, Golden Movie Awards, RTP Awards, Made In Ghana Fair, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings Book Launch, Girls Talk, MTN Carols as well as shows in Damang, Gomoa Afransi and many other shows employed the services of the singer who has shown that a female can be relevant in the industry without provocative attires and sexually suggestive lyrics.

She organised her own shows at Cockpit and the Republic Bar in 2018.

Adina has proven her great vocal abilities in her songs as well as collaborations such as ‘Forgive’ with Teephlow.

If any female musician has performed creditably well and deserves to be in the ‘Artiste of the Year’ category, it should be Adina.
