Popular Hollywood actor and Martial artist, Micheal Jai White who was enstooled chief in the Akuamu traditional area in the Eastern Region has expressed his profound gratitude to the chief and people of Akuamu for honouring him.

Micheal Jai White’s stool name is Ohene, Nana Akoto III Odopon. The actor expressing his gratitude for the kindness showed him Ghanaians took to his official Instagram page and wrote;

“Okay so what happened was… We get on 2 busses and riverboats to see the King of Akwamu. I’m thinking the presentation is almost over and I hear what sounds like my name being called, figuring it’s “the Ghanaian accent thing” but why’s everyone looking at me?! I get up and don’t know what the hell to do! I’m about to go into formal karate mode, making fists, saying “OSU” and start bowing all over the place! I’m like…”what’s the Ghanaian thing to do?!” and “is this a prank? Did Boris set me up??” If so, this is super elaborate! Knowing what I do about the king, #OdenehoKwafoAkoto III and the real AK-47’s the guards are carrying, this is no joke! I start assessing the looks on Ghanaian faces and realize; “Just because I don’t take myself too seriously doesn’t mean others feel the same way!” Instead of my usual deflection, I start to let it sink in…the way others say I inspire them and look upon me as a hero and it all begins to make some sense.

I’ve always hated egotistical people and anything that threatened to build my ego because I’ve never met an egotist that was a happy person! To me, ego equaled unhappiness! Though I’ve mastered many karate styles I refused to be called Master and to be called “king” is almost beyond my comprehension!
In the end I guess it’s all about what it means to yourself, and to me, a King is a servant to his people and not the other way around… like a what a President “should be!” I guess they knew what they were doing because ever since my estoolment I’ve been putting together several ways I can make things better for Ghana which happens to be the country where both myself and my wife’s bloodlines begin. I want to thank you all for your congratulations of my appointment but the only way I’ll be happy about it is by my accomplishing something meaningful with it.
Sincerely,
Ohene, Nana Akoto III Odopon aka Michael Jai White”.
