In a dramatic development at an Accra Circuit Court, Patricia Asiedua, known widely as Nana Agradaa and founder of Heaven Way Ministries International, has issued her first public statement following a 15-year prison sentence.

Convicted on several counts of defrauding by false pretence and engaging in charlatanic advertisement, the self-styled evangelist was found guilty of misleading church members into donating significant sums of money, all under the promise of receiving spiritual and financial blessings.

As she was escorted from the courtroom, Agradaa, remarkably composed in the face of the severe sentence, spoke briefly to reporters. Her message to her congregation was succinct but resolute: she urged them to "never cease praying."

Her hushed but confident remark left little doubt about her steadfast faith, even as she confronts a lengthy term behind bars.

Meanwhile, her husband, Eric Oduro Assiamah, has vehemently criticized the court’s decision, arguing that the funds received by church members were given voluntarily as regular religious contributions.

He described the verdict as unfair, asserting that the donations were part of established practice rather than deceit.

The case has not only sparked debate about the methods and legitimacy of certain religious practices but also provoked sympathy among Agradaa’s supporters, who see her unwavering faith and calm demeanor as emblematic of her leadership.

With her future now uncertain and her ministry facing unprecedented challenges, the controversy over her case continues to unfold both in court and in the public arena.
