A group calling itself Concerned Citizens of the Volta Region is calling on the Vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to retract  some of the derogatory comments he made towards the Voltarians to the run off of the December 7 elections.

At a press conference held in Ho, the coordinator of the group Alhaji Bello Misbaw noted that Voltarians are not a bunch of ethnic bigots in any form and  do not believe in any form of discrimination as Dr Bawumia wants to portray them.

According to him, never shall we preach tribal bigotry against any tribe and we shall not sit down to allow some politicians to spit on the graves of our ancestors.

Dr Bawumia and NPP has refused to accept the fact that Volta Region long ceased to be part of the Trans Volta Togolang and now part of Ghana.

It is therefore surprising that former President John Agyekum Kufour never paid too much attention to the development of the region during his eight years tenure as the president of Ghana.

So Bawumia’s lies that our voters register is full of Togolese meant NPP is looking down on Voltarians and should not be accepted.

We there want Bawumia to come out of his hibernation to prove that he did not seek to lie to Ghanaians that over 76,000 registered voters on the register are foreigners.

Certainly, the group is challenging Bawumia to produce the 90% that he promised to produce from Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and other neighboring countries.

The choice of Volta Region as their guinea pig for their nation wrecking experiment of claiming that the voters is over bloated with foreigners was nothing short of pitching the region against other regions.

Let us close our ranks and make sure the NPP and Nana Akufo Addo are punished in today’s polls to send a signal that we are not a region to be  look mean on.
