People outside the Oti area including journalists who have gone there to cover the ongoing referendum, have been cautioned by the police to cede their purpose for being there in exchange for their security.

This comes amid agitations from the residents and natives that some strangers might infiltrate the area and cause disaffection for the creation of the Oti region.

The natives believe they would get a 99% endorsement and any stranger coming to the area and to the polling centres may be a trouble causer.

Journalists have therefore, been cautioned to converge at Jasikan at the collation centre where they can feed their media houses with results once the results are collated.

The Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Doku, who gave the advise in an interview with Joy News explained that they have picked intelligence indicating residents will be hostile to persons they cannot identify as community members, including journalists.

He, therefore requested journalist to converge at the Bueman Senior High School where a press center will be set up for them and information relayed to the press by electoral officers.
