Leader: US cannot harm Iran 

The Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution has warned Iranian officials not to be deceived by the country’s enemies. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said officials must be able to distinguish enemies from friends. He said the United States has an obvious enmity toward Iran and the Europeans also try to deceive us. Ayatollah Khamenei said the US, as Iran’s main enemy, is suffering from internal and external problems. The Leader added that Americans are caught in a bad situation in Syria and Afghanistan and then Washington’s "idiot and feeble-minded" politicians hold an anti-Iran conference in Warsaw. He said the US invited a number of weak and bullied governments to Warsaw and that the conference failed to achieve any results. The Leader made the remarks in a meeting with the people of East Azarbaijan Province.

Iran slams Saudi Arabia

Iran has categorically rejected Saudi Arabia’s allegation that the Islamic Republic supports terrorists, calling the Arab kingdom the true godfather of global terrorism. Foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi described Saudi Arabia as a cradle of fundamentalism. Qassemi said Riyadh lacks any credibility to accuse others of sponsoring terrorism as it is the main promoter of terrorism. On Monday, the Saudi minister of state for foreign affairs branded Iran as a chief sponsor of terrorism. Adel al-Jubeir said Tehran has blamed Riyadh for last week’s deadly attack in the country in order to divert the attention of its own people.

US threatening Venezuela

The US president has called on Venezuela's military to abandon President Nicolas Maduro and switch allegiance to opposition leader Juan Guaido. Trump was addressing his supporters in Miami. The US president reiterated his support for Guaido, warning that all options against the Maduro government remain open. Trump has already said he could use military force to oust Maduro. Earlier, the European Union's foreign policy chief said the bloc strongly rejects any military intervention in the Latin American country.

Suing Trump administration

People have staged protest rallies across the US to denounce President Donald Trump for declaring a national emergency to build a wall on the Mexico border. Protesters in Washington DC, New York, Denver and Chicago decried the move as an effort to subvert democracy. They called Trump a wannabe dictator who wants to corrupt the US constitution. Demonstrators accused the US president of faking an emergency in order to build what they described as a racist border wall.

Maduro's reaction to US threat

The Venezuelan president has lashed out at his US counterpart for his latest rhetoric against the Latin American nation. Nicolas Maduro accused Donald Trump of speaking in an almost Nazi style. He said the US president is not in a position to deliver orders to the Venezuelan army. Speaking to his supporters in Miami on Monday, Trump called on the Venezuelan military to abandon Maduro and switch allegiance to opposition leader Juan Guaido.

Catalonia crisis

Catalonia’s president raps the European Parliament for canceling an event during which he was due to speak along with the region’s former leader. Quim Torra was speaking during a joint press conference with Catalonia’s former President, Carles Puigdemont in Brussels. He described EU’s stance on the issue of Catalonia as shameful. He then slammed the Spanish government for imprisoning Catalan leaders for organizing a referendum on independence in 2017.
