The Three Lions struggled with their 10-man opponent before the Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallan secured a win seconds before the final whistle. The  England captain, Wayne Rooney, who won his 116th international cap, played largely in a deep midfield role alongside Jordan Henderson and Eric Dier, despite new manager Sam Allardyce wanted to use him as a forward before the commencement of the match. The Manchester United skipper played even deeper when Dele Ali was introduced into the game as a second half substitute."Wayne played wherever he wanted to," said Allardyce. "He did play a little deeper than I thought he'd play, but I was pleased with his performance."                            credit:Mohammed Saalim/ghanaguardian.com
