We are not out of the woods yet, but there is hope- Finance Minister

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has acknowledged that while Ghana is not yet fully out of the economic challenges it faces, there are clear signs of recovery under the leadership of President John Mahama.
Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, July 24, during the presentation of the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review, Dr. Forson highlighted the difficult economic situation inherited by the current administration but reassured Ghanaians that recovery efforts are beginning to show positive results.
“Mr. Speaker, there is still more work to be done. President Mahama is determined to deliver,” he said.
The Finance Minister tempered the optimism with a note of caution, stressing that it would be premature to declare complete recovery at this stage. “We are not out of the woods! It will be premature to make that pronouncement,” he remarked.
Nevertheless, Dr. Forson struck a hopeful tone, expressing confidence in the country’s recovery trajectory.
“But the good news is that, today, hope is in sight and we are determined to navigate the country out of the terrible storm we inherited,” he added.
The government’s focus remains on stabilising the economy, restoring investor confidence, and ensuring long-term growth while protecting the livelihoods of Ghanaians.
Dr. Forson concluded with a determined message, “With God’s will, Insha Allah, H.E. President John Mahama will deliver.”
