President of the Ghana Football Association(GFA), Kurt Okraku has taken blame for the Black Star's dismal performance at the 33rd African Cup of Nations tournament currently ongoing in Cameroon.

Ghana has gone 40 years without winning the African Cup of Nations since last winning the elusive title in 1982 in Libya.

Although since then, Ghana has reached the finals on three occasions in 1992, 2010 and in 2015 but lost all three finals.

But in Cameroon this current crop of Black Stars set an unwanted record as it was the first time Ghana exited the African Cup of Nations without a win.

Ghana were in the same group as Morocco, Gabon, Comoros but failed to win any of their matches as they lost to minnows Comoros, drew with Gabon and also lost to Morocco.

“Ghanaians have every right to be very sad, they have every right to speak their minds about the performance of the team,” Okraku told Asempa FM.

“They were expecting that we would’ve qualified for the next stage and gone all the way to the final but that didn’t happen so we take responsibility for that,” the FA boss added.
